Introducing the ModelShare Programme

The Open Modelling Foundation’s ModelShare Programme will develop guidelines for researchers to effectively implement ethical model-sharing practices throughout the modelling lifecycle. The guidelines will be developed through a series of workshops, and published in July 2024.
We are pleased to be collaborating with the Open Modeling Foundation’s (OMF) Certification Working Group. The OMF is an alliance of modelling organisations that coordinates and administers a common, community developed body of standards and best practices among diverse communities of modelling scientists.
Kairoi will be supporting the OMF’s efforts to deliver a series of short, interactive workshops covering topics from across the modelling lifecycle. Our goal is to co-design community guidelines that help modelling researchers and teams effectively plan and resource projects that intend to promote open and ethical modelling efforts across domains. As with most of our work, outputs will be made freely available online.
Each workshop will run online, last for a maximum of two hours, and focus on one of the following topics:
- Guidance and standards: Approaches and practices to describing and documenting models
- Development environments and platforms: Model development in software development platforms and environments (e.g., GitHub
- Research computing: Model development and testing, data analytics, and workflows
- Preservation and publication: Model preservation in repositories and sharing in publications
- Publication and discoverability: Model metadata and availability in academic databases and search indexes
- Sustainability: Machine learning, computational models, and ethics
- Assessment: Reflection on open science and FAIR indicators for models
