Organisations demonstrate what is termed the intention-action gap – a mismatch between stated values and enacted ones.¹  These days, organisations are confronted by a new source of complexity that makes the gap harder to bridge; a gap that entails significant financial costs; confusion about artificial intelligence (AI).

In a presentation delivered at the RSA (Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) on 6th December, 2023, we introduced Kairoi’s AI Ethics Canvas. The Canvas proposes a three-part, organisation-first methodology to implement tried and tested measures for the responsible design, development, deployment, governance and use of AI tools, systems and research.

As outlined in our first ever blog post,³ Kairoi’s AI Ethics Canvas focuses on four practical areas to promote responsible AI:

  • Better communications
  • Relevant technical standards
  • Meaningful public engagement
  • Robust governance

Core to our work is the centring of organisations, their processes and their people.

The talk was delivered amongst nine other lightning talks, including one by our long-standing client We and AI, who we recently supported in the optimisation and documentation of their Better Images of AI project’s operations.

We were honoured to share the stage with leading changemakers at the RSA.
